Meet the herbalist
Herbalist. Witch. Listener. Tea drinker. Nature dweller.
Hi, I’m Dawn Selene. I’ve been studying herbalism for over 20 years now, though honestly, it started even before I had a name for it. I grew up watching my mom reach for herbs here and there, and something about that just took root. Before I knew what to do with them, I was bringing them home because they felt familiar.
Over the years, I’ve studied with a wide range of herbalists who each shaped the way I practice. I’ve trained with Rosemary Gladstar, whose teachings are deeply rooted in modern folk herbalism and accessibility; with Robin Rose Bennett, who brings in sacredness, storytelling, and magic; and with Linda Shanahan and Amanda Midkiff, who both taught me the art of growing, harvesting, and working closely with the plants themselves. I completed the two-year program at the David Winston Center for Herbal Studies and am currently enrolled in the graduate program, where I continue to deepen my clinical skills through a blend of Western, Chinese, and Eclectic herbal traditions.
The work I do now lives somewhere in the middle of all those traditions. I’m a blend of clinical, folk, community, and Wise Woman herbalism. And yes, witchery is part of the mix too. I’m a kitchen witch, hedge witch, and initiated Green Witch, and for me, it all flows together: intuition, land connection, deep listening, and practical care.
My work focuses on supporting the whole person — body, heart, and spirit. I offer consultations both in person and on Zoom, creating a space for honest conversation, reflection, and connection. Each session is shaped by your story and your needs in the moment. I also bring in elements of energy work when it feels aligned. As a Reiki practitioner, I often find that herbal and energetic approaches complement each other in meaningful ways.
My favorite herbs tend to be the ones that hold people gently and consistently: Mullein, Tulsi, Yarrow, Oat, and Rose are my frequent companions. I wildcraft carefully, grow many of my own herbs, and try to stay in relationship with the plants that support my work.
I’m also the co-founder of Earth & Ether Witchery & Botanica, a space where ritual, creativity, and community meet. My business partner and I create curated kits and ritual boxes designed to support magical living, both daily and seasonal. We share educational content on Instagram, from magical terminology and correspondences to simple rituals, affirmations, and everyday spells. Throughout the year, we vend at holistic expos, herbal markets, and metaphysical festivals, especially as the season shifts toward the mystical.
The common thread through all of it? Relationship. With people, with plants, with place. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in the right spot.
